APOLOGIES
Although difficult to admit, we've all done something wrong or hurt someone. Instead of confessing and apologizing, we often make excuses, pretend like nothing happened, blame the other person, or even double-down and lash out. What influences or causes individuals to apologize or act defensively? My research seeks to understand this phenomenon from the offender's perspective.

As a researcher I have made a commitment to open science. All data and code for my personally published work will be posted on the Open Science Framework and GitHub. Future studies will be preregistered.
